Unknown Worlds is seeking a Senior Tech Artist to help drive development on a new game project. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with an artistic eye, ensuring high-quality, stylized visuals while supporting efficient workflows. This is a hands-on, collaboration-focused role for an excellent communicator with a passion for creating beautiful and immersive worlds.
This is a remote position on a fully distributed team, looking for a candidate with the flexibility to collaborate with a team located primarily in the East and West Coast USA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive state-of-the-art visuals by applying relevant, modern techniques and trends.
- Develop and implement shaders, materials, atmospheric effects, skyboxes, and other applicable techniques in Unreal Engine; own and evolve the projectās material library and parent materials.
- Create and refine art pipelines to enable efficient, high-quality asset production.
- Build procedural tools and artist-friendly workflows that support dynamic world-building using Nanite, Lumen, and Unrealās procedural systems.
- Enforce art budgets and assist with rendering optimization to meet platform and performance targets.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and clear documentation of best practices and workflows to elevate the teamās overall expertise.
- Participate in playtests and help evaluate visuals as part of the overall player experience.
